Nadia Receives 2014 Champion for Diversity Leadership Award

The Society for Diversity recently named Nadia Quarles the recipient of the Champion for Diversity Leadership Award.

This award was based on her inclusive and positive leadership through diversity at the University of Chicago and her commitment to supporting and expanding opportunities for minority and woman-owned business enterprises. They also recognized her for her creation of progressive initiatives that have set precedence for other educational institutions, corporations and foundations across the country.

Nadia was included in a distinguished group of nominees including: Floyd W. Pitts, Sr. Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, American Red Cross; Peggy Harris, Assistant Vice President of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, Carolinas HealthCare System; Dr. Ken Coopwood, Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion at Missouri State University, Tracey K. Jaensch, Partner at FordHarrison LLP and Dr. Shelvy Campbell, Assistant Dean for Diversity at Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine & School of Pharmacy.

The awards ceremony was held on July 24, 2014 at the Diversity Leadership Retreat Conference at the Caribe Royal in Orlando, Florida. The 2014 Diversity Leadership Retreat Conference was focused on demonstrating success stories in the field of diversity and inclusion, as well as providing solutions to enhance current practices. Per the conference theme, “Planning for the Future: Linking Diversity, Demographics and Dollars,” the goal was to cultivate creative thinking, analysis and dialogue about the future of diversity and inclusion.
